Hello! I’m Katy! I run this joint, and personally make everything you find on this shop. ModularModular is based on the idea that the craft life should fit seamlessly into the busy lifestyle of the modern maker. I strive to offer products that will appeal to those who appreciate well-designed simplicity, and patterns that inspire making.

I make things I would want to own, use, or make, that's the driving force behind ModularModular. Quality, substance, and aesthetics are very important to me, and I find inspiration in constantly playing around with the things I make in order to find the very best way to make something.

ModularModular got started because I've been a knitter since I was 15, and being a rather particular crafter, was never satisfied with project bags that didn't fit my needs or aesthetic tastes. During my 6 year stint at Fancy Tiger Crafts in 2012, I fell madly in love with high-quality, modern fabric design, and it seemed logical to start making my own project bags out of beautiful fabric that were exactly what I needed them to be. My knitting and crochet friends started wanting me to make them bags, and by 2013 I was making them for everybody. ModularModular has expanded and expanded ever since, and now I offer a range of items from project bags to knitting kits to patterns to swag for your crafting space. It’s a lot of work, but I love running this shop and sharing my love of fun and funky prints, interesting materials, and functionality!

I’m originally from Denver, CO, but recently I packed up for warmer weather and relocated to sunny Phoenix, AZ! When I’m not making stuff, you can find me drafting substations and wind farms at my day job, traveling with my best doggo Nyx, taking photographs, listening to too many true crime podcasts, and going to ska/punk/hardcore shows.
